When children inspire you...
It is not often a parent can say their children inspire them, as a single mother I can admit that my children inspire me. They inspire me to be better, to listen and to Dream Big.
How many times have you spoken to your children, to give them encouragement, hope, or even just saying to them "Anything you want, you can have, you just have to want it and have Faith in yourself; just to think to yourself; are they even listening, or you may even feel that you're bothering them with the things you do say to them.
Last year, well less than nine months ago to be exact I've learned a lot from my daughter #2, as I like to call her because she's my middle child. In case your wondering they all have numbers and don't worry that number ends at three. Well back to daughter #2, she proved to me that children do listen. She graduated high school and was accepted to eight universities including her first choice and she is now wrapping up her freshman year in New York City. By seventeen she had published some articles and she's an activist. I couldn't be prouder! When I was driving her to school from Chicago I let her know, with tears of joy that she inspired me, she inspired me to listen to my own advice, she inspired me to do exactly what I love to do, she inspired me to have Faith and Dream Big. This child of mine went from being an introvert to actually enjoying life. Stopping to smell the roses, opening her mind to see the world as it should be seen.
Many people have asked me throughout the years how I make parenting so easy, being a single mother of three wasn't easy by any means. I had Faith, I've always known that there was something bigger, bigger than anything earthbound that helped me along the way with my girls. And, they are good girls, honor roll students all three, my oldest; daughter #1 was a straight-A student from preschool through college, my youngest; daughter #3, also an honor roll student and that particular one was special from the day she was born, doesn't know how to frown, just a happy child always, which is a bit weird these days, she's sixteen now and still doesn't know how to frown, I love that about her.
I've always told my girls that they can be and do whatever they want in this world, they just have to want it. For me even though, I said that all the time I feel like I settled for less. I was always so concerned about making sure they were provided for and never missed out on anything that I forgot to do me first, which, I assume most moms do, my question is why? Why do we put ourselves last? Why don't we follow our own advice?
I was inspired by my daughters to follow my dreams, to dream big, to have a little Faith. As I watch my daughters become those beautiful young women, that I inspired, that I gave hope to, that I cheered on, now they are doing it for me in my next chapter in life.
I invite all woman to start doing you first, listen to that inner voice, those whispers that you know you hear yet ignore. Be true to yourself and the rest will follow, that I know for sure.
Be Inspired to Be Better, to Listen and to Dream Big!
Sending mad Love to all...
